On the Road Again

Mighty Hikes, Quiz Nights, London Marathon

With the Pandemic easing, I’m finally able to get back on the road and Host events. So I’m back Hosting Macmillan Mighty Hikes for Macmillan Cancer Support, seeing 2000 people at each event across the country raising Millions of pounds for this worthy charity by walking 26 miles in a day. It’s such a privilege to see these people pushing themselves beyond their own limits for the sake of someone else.

I’m also back on the Quiz circuit, hosting pub quizzes around Devon, after my very successful online lockdown weekly quiz that lasted for a year. See https://www.thenightjarinn.co.uk if you fancy joining me for a curry and a quiz on a Tuesday evening.

Coming up on the next few months, I’ll be hosting at the Fiery Food festival In Brighton, I’ll be back on the finish lines of the women’s tour which is the UK’s biggest professional women’s cycle race in October and Announcing on The Mall for the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon. See ya there.

Killerton Apple Festival

Apple Festival

Great to be back with the National Trust hosting the annual Apple and Cider Festival in the grounds of the beautiful Killerton Estate in Devon. Another amazing 2 day festival of apples and cider where families from far and wide came to gather apples, listen to music and drink cider and apple juice hosted and compered by yours truly. One of my favourite events of the year. Music and cider and on my doorstep! A delight in all ways.

BBC Countryfile ramble for Children in Need

BBC Countryfile ramble for Children in Need

Countryfile Ramble

October brought the opportunity to host the BBC Countryfile ramble for Children in Need with 500 people walking a 3 mile course alongside Steve Brown and Ellie Harrison. Joe’s responsibility was to entertain, inform and keep everything moving.

The event was being filmed by TV crews and a drone. This means that it can take quite a while being filmed a number of times for each group and interview.

We also had a mass Land art to organize. Joe was there to make sure the crowd stayed energized and amused in his normal inimitable cheeky chappie style.

Let’s Ride for British Cycling

Let's Ride for British Cycling

Over the summer Joe was ‘the man on the mic’ for the British cycling Lets Ride events and informed and entertained 1000s of people as they arrived in various City Centres around the Uk to ride their bicycles on closed road city centre circuits, perfect for families and children.

This included interviewing celebrities, introducing live music, energizing the crowds, explaining safety points and generally keeping the vibe alive.

UCI World Road Cycling Championships

UCI World Road Cycling Championship

Announcing at UCI in Yorkshire

September saw the UCI World Road Cycling Championships descend upon Yorkshire for 10 days and Joe was the Fan Zone and Mainstage Host emceeing, commentating and announcing the medal ceremonies for all the races from Para-Cycling, to Juniors, U23s and elite men and women. The weather effected both the attendances and the racing but overall it was an incredible experience with millions of people watching the action both up close and personal and on the BBC. Joe can be heard on the broadcasts announcing all the medal winners. An honour and a privilege.
